The Sky is on FIRE!!

I was stitching away and Brian happen to go outside for something. He came back to say "you have to see the sky - its red!"

I know he was serious as he was looking for the camera on the table.

We went outside, and found the red sky. WOW, I love sunsets like this!!! I took a picture looking to the southeast, and a picture looking towards the sunset. Of course we live on side of a hill, so the trees are in the way..LOL

Thought I would share a Northwoods sunset. :) Now back to stitching... he he
It might be best to click on the photo to make the picture bigger.

SBQ - May 30

Today's SBQ was suggested Kathryn and is:

How many needles do you use during a project? Have you ever loaded up a needle for every color? Do you use a new needle for every project or recycle your favorite needle?

I only use one needle for the whole project. I don't use more than one needle or park my threads. I always have a habit of forgetting which color is what.. LOL

The only time I replace my needle is when the finish is worn off the needle.

Garden Of Life - Blackbird Designs FINISHED

YAY! Told Brian I wasn't going to get off my stitching chair till I was finished! Well I'm happy to say I had to get off the chair so I could go to the ironing board to do de-wrinkle!

This is my version of Garden of Life from Blackbird Designs, stitched on a piece of 28ct "white" (unsure of the color's name) linen. With the recommended floss, WDWs, and GASTs.

I told Brian that this finish is going on our wall!

When I took some pictures with the camera, I couldn't get it cropped right, and besides I was always getting the date in the way (I was too lazy to take it off.. LOL). So I thought I would also do a scan... so I have a scan and a picture taken with the camera.

Next on the agenda to stitch is Liberty House Sampler from Heart In Hand, that I had seen on another blog. So I might just put a few stitches in it tonight.

I had to work this afternoon - was a busy day!! Would have thought that with graduation ceremony going on, we would have been slow. Nope, was busy from the time I got there till the time I went home! I sold material for a quilt that I had made the store model for! The customer just loved it. So that made it great to have it made up. I'm thankful that my coworker had pointed out the pattern and ordered the material!

Well for tomorrow, lets see. I really have no plans. I'm just thankful I'm not in a tent tonight!! Its currently 41 degrees here!! I have slept in a tent when it got down to 48 degrees, and that was just bearable with layers of clothing on.

Garden Of Life - WIP 5/26

Thought I would post a picture of the top half of Garden of Life, by Blackbird Designs. I had to move the design down to stitch the top part. And looking at the rest of the pattern, I'm more than half way done with it.

This design is a fun stitch, but there is alot of starting and stopping since I'm using over dyed floss to stitch.

I was suppose to have off this weekend, but my boss at the quilt shop had called on Tuesday to ask if I could work Fri, or Sat. Well of course I had to work at the nursing home on Friday, so I said I could work today. And asked if she needed help on Sunday. So I worked today, and have to work tomorrow, also. Today I was pretty busy.. lots of ladies buying fabric. My boss had alot of compliments, saying how nice of a help I was, and how nice I was. Well it was just me, being me! :) I have Monday off, for Memorial Day, and on Tuesday, Bri and I have a DR appt in Iron Mountain.

Well I'm off to stitch for a bit, like I said I just wanted to share. National Lampoon's Vacation is on... gosh I remember watching that as a kid, when living at my parents house!

Garden Of Life - WIP 5/22

I thought I would share what I'm working on.. I had started this way back in February, and I found a recent WIP picture. I know I had alittle more than what that picture shows when I started stitching on it last night. So you can see the progress. :) This is called "Garden of Life" from Blackbird Designs.

Our weekend plans have changed - we were going to travel down to my family's cottage (160 miles away) for the holiday weekend. I had a phone call today, was my boss at the quilt shop, asking if I could work on Saturday or Friday, since a coworker had a death in her family. That was my deciding factor in staying home this weekend. So I'm picking up Saturday, and I think I might have volunteered myself for Sunday too, will find that out on Thursday. Over the past few days, I was considering staying home, mainly due to the gas prices. And since seeing them after the phone call, I'm glad I said yes to working!

I hope tomorrow, the rain stays away. I have been putting the yard work off. And if you can see the weeds are really starting to show in the picture below with Brian. There are actually hostas growing among the weeds around the satellite dish!

Please Wait, Searching For Satallite

What a day! That's what our tv screen said from 10pm last night till, about 6pm tonight!

Last night, Brian wanted to watch a show, and I wanted to watch another show, both at the same time. Well he won, and me talking under my breath, must have jinx something for the satellite dish, cause it blacked out. We thought, well must be the weather causing it. So we waited a bit. Bri ended up putting a DVD in, and we watched Sanford & Son for about an hour. Still was searching for satellite.

We went to bed... I turned on the tv this morning, same thing! Brian was out wiggling the dish, adjusting the settings, still searching for satellite signal. He called up his cousin, who came over to help. His cousin then went home to bring back a tv and his receiver to see if it was our receiver. He connected the tv and receiver outside so they could see the signal strength. Me calling on the walkie talkie, was not appealing. "Still nothing".. LOL

They managed to get a signal with the receiver connected to the dish outside. The problem was the cable! So off to Iron River we went to Ace, and bought the heavy duty coaxial cable. We got home and Brian was determined to get that cable buried! He began to pull on the old buried cable, only to have it break. Poor guy was doing great till he got to the drive way.

But we do now have our dish back.. and guess what!! Its on Brian's channels...LOL I guess I will allow him to watch what he wants, since he worked so hard today!

While in Iron River, I told Brian that I should stop and get some gas. I thought twice when I saw the sign..... $3.559!!! Man oh frickin man!! Im going to have to invest in a horse pretty soon to get me back and forth from work!!

Stars & Stripes - LHN FINISHED

Stars & Stripes from Little House Needleworks stitched on 28ct Summer Khaki linen over 2 with DMC floss.

It was a quick stitch!! Hope to make it into a pillow.

WIP - Stars & Stripes LHN

In an earlier post I said I would post a pic of the WIP - Stars & Stripes from Little House Needleworks, along with the QSnap Hugger I made for it while I waited for the Fray Check to dry.

Here it is. Should have it done soon, as I only need to stitch the border around the whole design. :)

SBQ - May 19th

Today's SBQ was suggested Juls and is:

If you could only stitch one more piece what would it be and why?

Wow, that is a hard question - I hope that I never have to get to that. But if I would, it would be a project that I would put my heart and soul into, and of course it would have to be a neverending project. Besides, it would have to be something that I would never stitch in this lifetime, cause if I stitched it in this lifetime, then it would be over.

Someday I would love to stitch and model my own sampler, someday.

5.17.2007

This is so cool!!

WOW, check this out!!! This is such a compliment!!!

I happen to check out where the referrals were coming from, to my blog. As I happen to click on a Google search in my sitemeter, I saw this blog, and had to check it out.

She placed an order yesterday, and I sent it out in the mail yesterday. This is so exciting!! Thanks Rebecca!!

I have had 2 more emails today, one from Gerry, and Pam stating that they have received and both loved their QSnap Huggers!! Thanks ladies!!

I was chatting with Elaine a while back about making a QH for each of the WIP to coordinate the QH to the project (I know weird.. LOL). Well last night while waiting for the Fray Check to dry.. I made a QH for the Stars & Stripes WIP I started on last night. :) I used this fabric, when I get alittle more done on it, I will post a picture of the QH, with the WIP. :)

Edited - May 24, Rebecca emailed to let me know she received her QSnap Huggers - check out her post.

ILCS 2007 Retreat Nametag - FINISHED

Whew.. another finish today! I sat down, started and finished the nametag for the retreat next month.

Patty from Moonflower Designs was very generous in designing the nametag, and sending the adorable cardinal buttons!! Thanks Patty!

The reason for the cardinals - well the retreat is being held in Indiana, well the cardinal is the state bird for the state, and the decision was to go with the cardinal. :)

Cardinal FINISHED!!

Well I sat down this afternoon, and was bound and determined not to get up from the computer to do anything.. well besides go to the bathroom.. he he.

I now have the backstitching on the Cardinal finished!!! So Im totally finished on the cardinal. Good thing I had to do the backstitching, as I found some missing stitches.. opps!

Cardinal is from Patternsonline.com, the title is Male Cardinal by Carolyn Shores Wright, stitched on cream 32 count lugana from Zweigart, using DMC floss.

I like how I signed the block, made it alittle more personal for the retreat. :)

Ive been tagged - 7 Things Meme

I've been tagged by Meari for the 7 Things meme.

Here are the rules: Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. You need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they have been tagged and to read your blog!

Humm, let's see..

1. For awhile at work, and still at times, my nickname is "Pam" - we had a resident that couldn't call me by my first name, it was always Pam.

2. Speaking of names, my first name is only Kim, nothing fancy - my parent's wanted the name to be plain and simple - like me.

3. I LOVE to fish! I can even put the worm on the hook.

4. I love music! I would rather listen to music than watch tv.

5. I love the tv show "Little People Big World"!! I can watch the reruns over and over.

6. We have a "Nobody" that lives in our house! I will ask hubby who was in the bedroom with the light on, and he would say "Nobody".. and I would ask, "Nobody, will you please turn off the light?!"

7. I met Brian (hubby) in a chat room, one Saturday morning. And the rest is history... :)

I tag the following -
Missy

Cathey

Cardinal WIP

WOOHOO!!! Can you hear that!! he he! I have the stitching part of the cardinal that is an assignment for the retreat next month, finished!! Very detailed!! LOTS of color changes for a simple design, but it sure makes it pop. And I have to add the backstitching yet.

I hope to tackle the backstitching tomorrow, and have it done soon. :) Then I can get back to some me stitching, but I need to also stitch up my nametag for the retreat.

Hard to believe the retreat is only 1 month and 5 days away!

RAK from Missy!

Today while cleaning and organizing the kitchen table (which is where the mail collects), I came across some mail that some how got misplaced (Im not naming names, as there are only 2 people that live in this house.. LOL).

I found a small envelope from Missy! Inside the card was a thank you letter for meeting her in Green Bay back in March, and since she is packing to move again, she came across some WDW Floss - Snowflake and Icicle!

Thanks so much Missy! They sure will be put to good use!!

I came home to a ...

Dark house!

Yep, we had a strong thunderstorm move thru the area last night. While still at work, we had hail and strong downpours of rain. What was so awesome of the storm was the sunset that followed behind the storm. I so had wished that I had my camera with me! The color of the sunset was a color I had never seen before.. and BRIGHT! It was amazing, to go from a total black sky to a sky that was of a yellow/orange color. It was one of those once in a lifetime experiences. :)

I had called Brian and told him I was going to outwait the storm alittle, as I hate driving in lightening (its not that I'm scared, its just blinding when it does strike). Well I was behind the storm the whole way, and once I got about 8 miles from home, I thought something was different. Yep, all the houses along the way were dark! No electricity. It had gone out do to a tree having contact with a power line about 8:30p.

I arrived home to find Brian over at his parents, where he was waiting out the storm, just in case, as we don't have a basement. We stayed over there for about another 30 minutes and headed home. Our only light source was those solar lights, so we brought 3 into the house and set them up. We did light one candle. I fell asleep in my chair, and I was in bed around 11:15pm.

I woke up about 2:30am to discover that the power had been back on for an hour and 24 minutes. Good thing we hadn't waited up.

Its amazing how much we depend on electricity!

Happy Mother's Day!

I just want to wish all the Mother's - A Happy Mother's Day! And especially to my Mom, Sharon. I LOVE YOU!

SBQ - May 10th

Today's SBQ was suggested by Ish is:

How do you choose a project for an exchange? Do you pick solely on what you know of the taste of the recipient or are there other reasons you pick the piece you do?

So far the exchanges I have been involved in have had a theme. I, then do a little research on the recipient's likes and dislikes. Then I look for an appropriate size of the design I would like to stitch.

QSnap Huggers - More selections of material added!!

I just finished scanning in the new fabrics I picked up today
for the QSnap Huggers!!!
Please take a look. :)

http://qsnaphugger.bravehost.com/index.html

So far I have had LOTS of happy customers, and I THANK YOU to the ones that have purchased from me. :) It is very much appreciated!! I really enjoy making these QSnap Huggers.. and sadly I suffer withdrawals when I can't make them.. he he.

Which I may be holding contests for chances to win a QSnap Hugger, so please stay tuned to this blog for future contests. :)

I have added some seasonal prints - you might want to consider a QSnap Hugger with your Christmas or Seasonal Exchanges this year.

Thanks!

DMC floss move complete!!

Remember not long ago I posted that I was going to be using the "Jammer method" of storing my floss. Well I'm happy to announce that I have all the floss transferred to their new home! :). I had to rewind about 95% of the floss #s. I was just wanting to get it finished as I didn't want to have to go thru so many boxes to find the color I was looking for. I just need to re wrap the metallic and some of the rayon colors that I have.

So now I can focus more on S.T.I.T.C.H.I.N.G. since I will know where all my floss are.. he he

For those that would like to know what a Jammer is. Its real job is to hold matchbox cars.. but it had other intentions.

I purchased it at WalMart, in the toy dept. I actually just asked the clerk if she had anything that I could purchase to store matchbox cars in. It was no where near the matchbox cars (so I'm happy I asked). It only cost me $4.88. But here is the kicker.. I had to purchase (which I'm glad I did) the DMC floss bobbins. I was using the cardboard bobbins and I just was not having the greatest luck with them in the end. They would bend and just look awful.

And like I said in a previous post, I also purchased 2 sets of DMC Floss # stickers. So there is a sticker on the front, and the back of the bobbins.

So now I have all these metal rings that came with the DMC floss bobbins... anyone like them!?! I'm not sure the number of them that I have.. but I know I have at least 5 or so.

Seasons Greeting - Bent Creek

Yeah!! I have my first finish in almost a month!! How great is that!! I got the jive back! And I think having deadlines help!

This is a "secret" stitch for someone. So Im not going to be naming any names, just yet!

I stitched this baby over 1 on 28ct piece of linen, with WDW threads! I love how it turned out! I started stitching on it Tuesday .. if I remember right, and I had it finished before I went to bed last night.

5.04.2007

Ive been stitching!

Here is proof that I have been stitching!!! I started this cute little design on Tuesday night, and I have been slowly stitching on it. And I got a good amount of stitching finished on it last night, while watching tv.

This is going to be a for a secret ornament exchange for a group Im in. I think it its so cute!

Im stitching it over one on 32ct, so it a tiny sucker! Its in a 6" X 8" QSnap, with its QSnap Hugger.

Im still working on rewrapping all my floss bobbins on to the DMC bobbins. Nicole posted a comment, and shared with me that she purchased another set of DMC #s and put them on both sides of the bobbin. What a great idea! So I "borrowed" Nicole's idea. Thanks Nicole!

The Joys of the Northwoods

Ok, I'm on my laptop, its 12:30a.m., the tv is on, Brian has gone to bed. I hear Brian get up. Well he is investigating by the back door. I check to see what he is doing.

As I get closer I can hear what he is looking for. Our yearly annoying friend is back! The porcupine! We could hear it chewing and it sounded close. I grabbed the flashlight. Brian proceeds to open the door to investigate.

If the porcupine had been about 2 inches closer to the door, it would have gotten its butt hit!! So now tomorrow we will have to go and find out the damage. It likes this small chair I have on the porch, and a bench that we have out by our propane tank. And we found out last year that it likes our porch! ARGH!

SBQ - May 2nd

Today's SBQ was suggested by Kathryn and is:

How many WIPs do you have? How many UFOs do you have? When does a WIP become a UFO?

As of right now, I have 4 WIPs... "Garden of Friends" from Blackbird Designs, 2 assignments for the ILCS Retreat in June; male cardinal and name tag, and working on an ornament for the secret BC Ornament exchange.

Honestly I have no UFO's - I believe if I'm going to start something, I better finish it!!

I do have some projects in mind for the future, but I tend to finish the WIP that I'm currently working on now.
